Subject:   Baskerville House Photographer: Jonathan Berg
Place:   Centenary Square Birmingham Code:
Baskerville House is soon to be redeveloped into a hotel with council departments likely to move across the road to Alpha Tower. This building borders Centenary Square  and is close to the site of the Easy Hill the residence of John Baskerville, an 18th century industrialist perhaps now best remembered for his Baskerville type face. A bronze and Portland stone sculpture, Industry and Genius (1990),  in front of Baskerville House reminds visitors of the typeface.
