The Forward statue (1991) is by Raymond
Mason, the Birmingham-born artist who undertook this commission at the
Halygon Studios in Paris. Forward represents the onward march of the
people of Birmingham and faces the front entrance of the International
Convention Centre. The sculpture has stimulated discussion on public
art in the city.
