Birmingham Town Hall is a major component of
Birmingham's architecture. Bordering Victoria Square the classical design
of Hansom and Welch was originally built to house the Birmingham Triennial
Music Festival. The Town Hall opened in 1834 but was not completed until
1850. Today the Town Hall awaits some tender loving care and will
certainly find a new role in the life of the city.
In Positively Birmingham there is a double page spread (p130-1)
and also a photo of the William Hill organ (1850). |
